Challenging a Denied Asylum Application

If your application for International Protection is refused, you have the right to appeal the decision to the International Protection Appeals Tribunal (IPAT).

Filing an Appeal

✔️ You must submit your appeal and legal submissions to the IPAT within 15 working days of receiving the negative decision.
✔️ You can choose between:

  • Oral appeal – You will attend a hearing at the IPAT.
  • Written appeal – The case is reviewed based on written submissions without a hearing.

Tip: If you opt for an oral appeal, ensure you have legal representation during the hearing.

Further Legal Challenge

✔️ If your appeal is also rejected, you should consult legal counsel to determine whether there are grounds for a Judicial Review of the decision.

Seeking professional legal advice at each stage is crucial to maximising your chances of a successful outcome.
