
Qualifying Residency Periods for Indefinite Residency in Ireland
Applicants seeking Stamp 5 (Without Condition as to Time) permission can only count legal residence under the following immigration stamps towards their application:
Eligible Residency Stamps
✔️ Stamp 1 – Work permit holders and employment permit holders.
✔️ Stamp 3 – Non-working dependents, volunteers, and religious ministers.
✔️ Stamp 4 – Long-term residency holders, refugees, and certain employment permit holders.
✔️ Stamp EUFam – Family members of EU/EEA nationals under EU Treaty Rights.
Residency under Stamp 2 (student permission) or Stamp 2A (short-term study) does not count towards the eight-year legal residency requirement for indefinite residency.
