
Non-Qualifying Stamps for Indefinite Residency in Ireland
The following immigration stamps do not count towards the eight-year legal residency requirement for Stamp 5 (Without Condition as to Time) permission:
Non-Eligible Residency Stamps
Stamp 0 – For retirees, visiting academics, or persons of independent means.
Stamp 2 or Stamp 2A – Student permission (including language courses and academic studies).
Stamp 1A – Trainee accountants.
Stamp 4 (Temporary Registered Doctors) – Short-term medical professionals.
Stamp 4 (Intra-Company Transfer) – Employees transferred within a company.
Stamp 3 (Spouse/Dependent of Intra-Company Transfer Employee) – Dependents of intra-company transfer workers.
Temporary Visitor Permission – Granted at ports of entry for short-term stays.
Applicants holding these stamps must switch to an eligible immigration status (such as Stamp 1 or Stamp 4) before accumulating the required eight years of reckonable residence for indefinite residency.
