Medical Insurance Requirements

Applicants and their permitted family members must have private medical insurance from a provider authorised by the Health Insurance Authority for the full duration of their stay in Ireland.

Insurance Coverage Requirements

✔️ The applicant’s sponsor may include them in a group insurance scheme.
✔️ Travel insurance may be accepted, but only during the first year, provided it meets the following criteria:

  • Covers the entire period before the applicant arranges private medical insurance.
  • Provides at least €25,000 coverage for accidents.
  • Provides at least €25,000 coverage for illness and disease.
  • Covers any period of hospitalisation.

✔️ It is advisable to have insurance coverage for repatriation in case of serious illness or unforeseen events.

Residence Duration Under the Programme

✔️ The minimum period of residence permitted under this programme is one (1) year.
✔️ The maximum period is three years, which may be structured as:

  • Three consecutive years (renewable annually).
  • Separate periods of one or two years, provided the total does not exceed three years.

Restrictions After Programme Completion

✔️ Applicants cannot transition from the Minister of Religion programme to the Volunteering in Ireland programme.

This ensures applicants meet Ireland’s medical insurance and residency conditions. Let me know if you need any refinements!
