Short-Term Visit Visa Applications

A Short Stay C Visa is a visa that allows a person to stay in Ireland for less than three months. Before applying, applicants must be aware of the Department of Justice & Equality’s policy on these visas.

Short Stay C Visa Policy for Consideration

Applicants must demonstrate strong family, social, or economic ties to a country other than Ireland to assure the Visa Officer that their stay will be temporary and in line with the conditions set by Irish Immigration upon arrival. The maximum stay permitted on a Short Stay C Visa is 90 days.

It is essential for applicants to prove significant ties to another country, as the burden of proof rests on them.

Criteria for Granting a Short Stay C Visa

Applicants must demonstrate that they:

✔️ Will leave Ireland before their visa expires
✔️ Have sufficient financial resources to support themselves in Ireland
✔️ Are of good character and have been truthful in their application
✔️ Do not intend to use the visa for illegal entry into the UK or other EU countries

Assessment Criteria for a Short Stay C Visa

Visa Officers assess applications based on:

✔️ Proof that the applicant will leave Ireland at the end of their visit
✔️ Financial capability of the applicant or their Irish sponsor to support the visit
✔️ Evidence of return or onward travel arrangements
✔️ Confirmation that the applicant will not breach the Common Travel Area by entering the UK without a valid UK visa
✔️ Immigration history regarding Ireland, the UK, the Schengen area, and other countries
✔️ Any other relevant factors deemed necessary by the Visa Officer

Applicants with a history of serious crimes or past visa violations may be refused a visa.

Consequences of Submitting False Information

Submitting false or misleading documents may result in:

Immediate visa refusal
No right to appeal in certain cases
Five-year entry ban from Ireland
