Entry Visa Requirements for Non-EEA Nationals

Applicants seeking to enter Ireland as a Minister of Religion must meet specific visa requirements based on their country of residence.

Visa Requirements Based on Country of Residence

Non-EEA nationals must follow different procedures depending on their country of residence when applying for entry to Ireland.

Applicants from Countries Other Than China, India, Nigeria, or Pakistan

Applicants who do not reside in China, India, Nigeria, or Pakistan must first receive Preclearance approval before applying for a visa.

Once the Preclearance application is successful, the applicant must:

  1. Apply for a visa online.
  2. Complete the online visa application process and follow the instructions on the generated summary application form.
  3. Submit the visa application along with:
    • Preclearance Letter of Approval
    • Passport
    • Signed visa application summary form
    • Photographs
    • Visa application fee

Unlike the Preclearance process, the applicant does not need to resubmit supporting documents from the initial application.

Applicants from China, India, Nigeria, or Pakistan

Applicants residing in China, India, Nigeria, or Pakistan must follow a different process, submitting their visa application at the same time as the Preclearance application.

Steps for these applicants:

  1. Submit a visa application along with the Preclearance application.
  2. Provide biometric details as required.
  3. Follow the instructions on the summary application form after completing the online visa application.
  4. Submit the following documents:
    • Passport
    • Signed visa application form
    • Visa application fee

Non-EEA Nationals Not Requiring an Entry Visa

Non-EEA nationals who do not require an entry visa must still obtain prior approval from the Department of Justice and Equality, Immigration Service Delivery before entering Ireland as a Minister of Religion.

If the application is successful, the applicant will receive a Letter of Approval, which must be presented to an Immigration Officer at the port of entry.

Application Location Requirement

Applicants must ensure they apply from the correct location based on their circumstances.

  • Applications must be made from outside Ireland, unless the applicant is seeking an extension under the same sponsor.
  • Transitional arrangements may apply in certain cases.
