Restrictions of Minister of Religion Permission in Ireland

A successful applicant granted Minister of Religion permission in Ireland is subject to specific restrictions. They are not allowed to:

Employment and Work Limitations

  • Engage in Other Paid Work – The applicant may only work in their approved Minister of Religion role.

Family and Immigration Status

  • Bring Additional Family Members – This includes elderly dependents and children over 18 who are not eligible to accompany the applicant.
  • Switch to Another Immigration Permission – Changing to a different immigration status while in Ireland is not permitted.

Religious and Volunteer Restrictions

  • Change Religious Body or Faith Community – The applicant must remain with the same religious organisation during their stay.
  • Apply for Volunteer Permission After Expiry – Once the Minister of Religion permission expires, the applicant cannot switch to a volunteer visa.

Public Services and Benefits

  • Access Public Services or State Benefits – The applicant cannot rely on public funds or social welfare benefits during their stay.
