Approval Requirements for Long-Term Residency in Ireland

To qualify for long-term residency, applicants must meet strict criteria regarding their residency status, employment, and character.

Eligibility Criteria

✔️ Residency Requirement – The applicant must have at least 60 months (five years) of reckonable residence in Ireland at the time of application.
✔️ Legal Residency – Only time spent in Ireland under a work permit authorisation or working visa conditions is counted. The applicant must hold either a Stamp 1 or Stamp 4 before applying.

✔️ Good Character Requirement – The applicant must have a clean legal record and meet the Irish government’s good character standards.

Spouse or Dependent Applications

✔️ If applying as a spouse or dependent, the applicant will be granted Stamp 3 permission for five years.
✔️ Stamp 3 holders are not exempt from employment permit requirements and must obtain a work permit if they wish to work.
