When an application for Refugee Status or Subsidiary Protection is refused, the Minister for Justice may decide to grant permission to remain in Ireland on humanitarian grounds.
In assessing such applications, the following factors are taken into account:
The applicant’s connection with Ireland, if any
Humanitarian considerations and personal circumstances
The applicant’s character and behaviour both within and outside Ireland, including any criminal convictions
Matters relating to national security and public order
Any other factors that may serve the common good
Each application is reviewed individually in line with Irish immigration law, ensuring that those in need of protection are given fair consideration.
